Frameless Windows. Don’t know why I like them but I do. Picture of a relevant car with said quirk.
It makes sense in the car tho, they make a convertible version, I’m guessing they did this so the Vert and coupe could have the same doors. Also if you were wondering the Beetle is shorter in wheelbase but longer in overall length than the Golf.

I like them, but winter does not when they are frozen shut.

I love frameless windows on 4-door cars. There aren’t many.

Frameless windows are definitely cooler looking. It was sad when Subaru gave up that fight. I mean framed windows are better in a lot of ways, but they definitely don’t look as sleek.

Also, in the days before keyless entry when you locked your keys in the car it was easier to get a coat hanger inside and lift the lock knob. That made them easier to steal too, but whatever.

Seriously. I’ve been worried about breaking my window clean off on a few occasions

That us a good point. It’d be a lot scarier to yank on the door when the door is glass. I’ll just crawl in trough the hatch

Yep - used to be a lot more of them.

Even better if it’s a sedan and there’s no b pillar.

You know what I like even more than frameless Windows is T-tops.
It gives you both.
Ignore wheels on last one. I would like them on 16s 17 inch wheels max.

As I mentioned in my post, Subaru was a fan. 2009 was the last year for the Legacy/Outback:
2007 was the last year for the Impreza:
Which of course means they were also on the Saabaru:

I think some older Legacies also had frameless windows

I concur.

BugEyedAcura owned a New Beetle for a little while. You should message him sometime just to get a pulse of it. I think we have at least have a dozen Golf owners (not all of them being Rs or GTIs either).

I’ve owned 4 different cars with them and the only notable thing about them is I have to discourage passengers from closing their door by pushing on the glass.

My Solara has them, prob because of the convertible version. The driver side has a minor issue with the seal so there is some wind noise.

My MX6 had them. I always liked the feeling of opening or closing the door without moving my hand. But I guess you aren’t supposed to leave your window down all the time.

I once parked next to a Mini Speedster or whatever that chop top one with the roof that looks like a baseball cap is called. He had taped a printout to the top of the passenger side window saying something like “don’t push the door closed with the glass.” I guess he just got fed up.

Frameless windows are great until you jab yourself in the ribs with the corner of one.

Counterpoint: super easy to scrape ice off of them when you can open the door.

Subaru called. All of their Legacies, at least up until 2008, are frameless.
I cannot vouch for any other Subarus being frameless, however.

The ultimate panorama: semi-transparent A and C pillars (made out of whatever magic hyper-durable compound we can think of,) frameless windows, no B-pillar.
Blind spots are for weaklings.

I think the Audi A5/7 are the only ones left..?
And the Rapide too but I’d hardly call that a new car.

I like cars that have exterior paint colors on the interior.

Me too. It’s a call back to the old days when it was okay for the actual teal of the car to be showing.

The BMW 4GC has them, and I think the GTs do, too. That’s all I can think of - did Subaru stop doing that entirely? Used to be that almost all of their cars had frameless glass.
